W.S. Cole
W.S. Cole, age 82, of Coleman, died Monday, January 13, 2003 at Abilene
Regional Medical Center. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday,
January 16, 2003 at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion with his grandson, Bryan Stokes
officiating. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
W.S. was born April 6, 1920 in Juaquin, Texas and was a son of the late
Clyde and Blanche Blevins Cole. He grew up in Jauquin and graduated from
high school there. He moved to Coleman at the age of 18 and had lived here since
that time. He served in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army and was a paratrooper with
the 101st Airborne Division. On December 24, 1947 he married Lorain Barnett in
Coleman. He worked for many years for H.B. Zachary Company as a pipeliner. He was
Baptist and was a member of Coleman Masonic Lodge #496.
Survivors include his wife, Lorain Cole of Coleman; one son, Gary Cole of
Frankfort, Germany; one daughter, Pat Balch of Baird; one sister, Billie Jean Gregg
of Santa Anna; one brother, Wayford Cole of Nederland, Texas; three grandchildren,
Majetta Stokes of Hawley, Tiffany Rutherford of Stephenville, and
William Cole of Germany; four great-grandchildren, Olyvia Jackson and
Trevor Jackson both of Abilene, Hank Stokes and Sally Stokes both of Hawley;
several nieces and nephews.

Family visitation will be held on Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the
funeral home.
